Poppy Appeal 2011
Today’s the day everyone!
Each year the nation joins together in support of The Royal British Legion’s charity work through the Poppy Appeal. Launching today, this year’s Poppy Appeal will be the culmination of the Legions 90th Anniversary and will be marked by a host of great events.
First off, TV heartthrob Gethin Jones will be presenting today’s Poppy Appeal launch from Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. Gethin has just returned from filming with our Armed Forces in Afghanistan and I am very pleased to confirm he will be supporting the appeal, and no doubt breaking some hearts along the way!
As part of the launch, Gethin unveiled our online campaign ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’. This is something you can all get involved in. Simply visit the site, upload a head and shoulders shot of yourself, pin a poppy to your photo and write a message of support. Your photo will then join hundreds of others on the Shoulder to Shoulder wall, showcasing your support of the Poppy Appeal!
On Monday I mentioned the official 2011 Poppy Appeal Single and guess what … it’s number one in the mid-week charts! That’s right; the single, produced with the help of Robin Gibb, has smashed the charts and flown straight to number one on Amazon, where it remains today. Fantastic news!
